An adept musical
performer and educator.
A representative of both Banaras and Farukkhabad Gharanas (traditions) of Tabla, Shailendra is a Top Grade Artist of All India Radio (AIR), GoI. He is an exemplary accompanist, an accomplished soloist, and an intellectual concoctor of traditional as well as world music.
Shailendra has been a part and performed at numerous national and international conferences and concerts with renowned artists like Late Pt. V. G. Jog, Late Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Late Vidushi Girja Devi, Pt. Nityanand Haldipur, Pt. Vidyadhar Vyas and many more.
He has worked with jazz musicians like Lewis Pragasam, Greg Lyons, Rainer Pusch, as well as Gamelan musicians as part of his explorations with fusion music.
He has also served at ICCR, GoI on deputation as a faculty in the Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur where he taught the art of Tabla to the people of Malaysia.
